Volunteers Needed - Products in Dementia Care
We all use hundreds of products every day and often give little thought to the specific design of them or the impact it can have on our daily living, for example from flooring and lighting through to cutlery and cars. Some products we don't even use for their initial intended purpose.
DSDC has been granted funding from the British Society of Gerontology (BSG) to focus on exactly that; how does the design of products impact on people living with a diagnosis of a dementia? With the funding, DSDC has agreed to host two small 'roundtable' meetings, where we can gain valuable insight from people with lived experience. We will then use the feedback to create guidance and information for care partners, designers and product specifiers.
Both roundtable groups will be small (maximum of six participants at each) and supported by two members of the team. The groups are informal and relaxed. We would love it if you were able to come along to one of the roundtable events below (in-person), at the Iris Murdoch Building at the University of Stirling:
Thursday 23 October
10.30am - 1.30pm
OR
Monday 27 October
12.30pm - 15.35pm
- People living with a dementia and care partners are able to participate.
- Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
- Every participant will be given a voucher as an appreciation of giving up your time.
- DSDC can cover local travel expenses (Central Belt of Scotland)
If you would like to come along, or if you would like more information, you can contact Ailidh at Ailidh.Aikman@stir.ac.uk / 01786 467745.
