September challenge

This World Alzheimer's Month how do you plan on making a difference? Raising awareness of Alzheimer’s Disease, and other dementias, is good but can you do something this month that goes further? We need to deepen our understanding, starting meaningful conversations, and challenge ourselves to do better.

To truly support people with Alzheimer's and other dementias, we must move beyond simple awareness. It begins with education, which helps dispel myths and reduce stigma. We can embrace learning about dementia to provide a powerful force behind each individual living with a diagnosis that supports them to live the life they want. We can create places and spaces which are supportive of an ageing population, allowing people to be as independent as possible.

Real change is driven by open, honest dialogue that amplifies the voices and lived experiences of people living with a dementia, their families, and their caregivers. Knowledge empowers each and every one of us.

We must commit to person-led care, ensuring that each individual's story, choices, and wishes are respected and at the center of their support. This month, let's transform awareness into a movement of education, dialogue, and action, putting people with dementia first.

What will you do?
