Best Practice Facilitator wins prestigious award

The DSDC congratulates Paul Goodridge, G4S Operational Manager at HMP/YOI Parc, Cardiff.

Paul and his team have been recognised by the Butler Trust for their support and care of older prisoners at HMP Parc, creating an Assisted Living Unit and pioneering the use of Supported Living Plans. This is the third accolade for the ALU which addresses complex clinical and social needs, including dementia, palliative and end of life care, by creating an environment that is proactive and socially inclusive. In November last year Paul won the Wales Care Awards Spirit of Care Gold award and the Excellence in Palliative and End of Life Care Silver ward. An important feature of the work was to successfully pilot DSDC’s Best Practice in Dementia Care Learning programme developing the team’s understanding of dementia and its impact on the prison population.

The Best Practice in Dementia Care Learning Programme is available to everyone who works in dementia care. Find out more.
