App-based care

Allen Candy, CEO at Life Care Australia presented at DSDC’s International Masterclass on Dementia Care, Design and Ageing in 2019.

Life Care is a not for profit aged care provider who believe that ageing is not a disability or a policy problem to be solved, rather it is a natural part of life that should be celebrated. Life Care introduced an app to their care provision at Gaynes Park and Allen discusses this feature in his presentation below.

Technology and people. It’s a mix that, at times, can be fraught with risk. In this talk, Allen Candy, CEO of Australian-based Not For Profit aged care provider Life Care, speaks via video about how an idea of using app-based technology led to the creation of an integrated system that has increased social interaction, reduced wait times.

A chartered accountant and MBA graduate with over ten years’ experience in the aged care industry, Allen Candy has been leading the Not For Profit aged care provider Life Care for over eight years. His pursuit of innovative models of care and environmental design focus on improving the daily experience of those supported by Life Care. In the eight years Allen has led Life Care, the organisation has developed one of the best reputations in the industry and collected many awards along the way. Allen’s ongoing passion and commitment to make a significant contribution to the lives of older South Australians has, in part, been the result of personal experience: his father lived at a Life Care residential care home for a number of years.
