Meet the Team

Our multi-disciplinary teams are based in the UK, Ireland, Japan and Australia, and come from backgrounds in health and social care, architecture, design and research.

Our team’s diverse range of international experience and varied skillsets provides DSDC clients with a unique offering and a valuable source of knowledge and experience to support their projects.

 

UK Team

  • Ailidh Aikman

    Ailidh graduated from Strathclyde University’s Business School, with an Honours degree in marketing. At DSDC she primarily focuses on marketing, communications and project management for the centre.

  • David Wilson-Wynne

    David is the DSDC Senior Dementia Care Consultant and is a veteran of the industry with 17 years’ experience in both clinical and non-clinical roles. He is the founder of two dementia support organisations – Total Recall Memories Choir and Dementia Support Scotland. Most recently, David graduated with his MSc Dementia from Stirling University.

  • Dominic Chu

    Dominic has practised in architectural design and project management in Hong Kong for over 20 years. He has cultivated a deep interest in architecture and has diverse skill sets and knowledge on designing prolific range of buildings covered health care, education, offices, hospitality and leisure, transport and infrastructure.

  • Dr. Junjie Huang

    Junjie is a Lecturer in Ageing, Dementia and Design, specialising in designing dementia-friendly/age-friendly environments and has 15-years' experience in architecture, orginally training in China. Junjie’s research and practice focuses on the exploration of human-environment relation to supporting healthy ageing.

  • Dr. Martin Quirke

    Martin is a chartered architect and Lecturer in Ageing, Dementia and Design specialising in design for age-related health, physical and cognitive impairment. Martin has extensive experience of practicing internationally.

  • Professor Lesley Palmer

    Lesley is a Professor of Ageing and Dementia Design and an architect with 22 years of experience designing and advising on dementia-friendly design principles, internationally. Lesley advises governments, building standards institutes and organisations globally and is involved in research projects focusing on ageing, dementia and the built environment.

  • Lorraine Drummond

    Since joining DSDC in 2011 Lorraine has provided support for a number of projects including license agreements, funded projects and conferences. She is currently responsible for DSDC’s financial reporting.

  • Lynsey Hutchinson

    Lynsey has over 20 years’ experience in the design industry. While leading product accreditations at DSDC, Lynsey also delivers training, reviews building designs, audits buildings and provides consultancy services.

  • Natalie Millar

    Having held a variety of financial and administration roles, Natalie joined DSDC in 2022. The focus of Natalie’s current role is the administration of online training courses and providing support to the Business Support Officers and wider DSDC team.

International Associates

  • Dai Kiuchi

    Dai is Senior Consultant at Mediva Inc., a consulting and operations company specialised in healthcare. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Kyoto University (Japan) and master’s from Robert Gordon University (UK).

  • Debbie de Fiddes

    As CEO of de Fiddes Design, Debbie has over 30 years' experience in designing for aged care, dementia and retirement living. Debbie is founding partner and director of the Evoke Collective Australasia.

  • Gayle Henry

    As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Gayle has worked in Australia and the UK, predominantly in aged and palliative care. Gayle has undertaken further studies in addition to teaching at University level.

  • Kanoko Oishi

    Kanoko graduated from Osaka University School of Law and has an MBA from Harvard Business School. She founded Mediva Inc. in 2000 and is CEO of Mediva and COO of Medical Corporation Platanus.

  • Kathy Li

    Kathy is Stage 1 Leader for Undergraduate Studies at the Mackintosh School of Architecture. She was awarded the inaugural RIAS Design Tutor of the Year Award 2010.

  • Kirsty Bennett

    Kirsty is an architect with over 25 years of experience designing for people living with dementia. She is also co-founder of the Evoke Collective Australasia.

  • Marion Preez

    Marion is a qualified landscape architect and co-founder of UrbanPioneers who have experience in landscape architecture, place making, urban design, green infrastructure, engagement and publications.

  • Peter Kerr

    Peter has over 25 years’ experience working in building services design. He has many interests, including circadian lighting, health and wellness in the workplace, assessing a zero carbon emission future and smart building technologies.

  • Terri Preece

    Terri has a broad health and aged care industry career that spans more than 35 years, with a particular interest in dementia. Terri is also an integral team member of the Evoke Collective Australasia.

  • Una Lynch

    A nurse, midwife and public health nurse Una is founding director of Sonrisa Solutions Ltd in Northern Ireland and joined the University of Stirling’s DSDC as Associate in 2016. 

  • Willie Laithwaite

    Willie is a Social Worker working within a Care Home Support Team. Willie takes a person-centred, holistic approach to supporting people who live in care homes; encouraging staff to provide person-centred, fulfilling, and safe environments for residents.
